Today i want to share the most powerful lesson i learned after the most terrifying moment of my life.
You may know this part of my story, but you may not have seen the pictures, so i included them in this email. As they say, a picture can tell a thousand words.
On december 3rd, 1999 i was driving home after giving a speech at a conference, when my ford mustang was hit head on by a drunk driver at 70+ mph.
That night i broke 11 bones and was clinically dead for six minutes. I spent the next six days in a coma and woke to the news that i would most likely never walk again.
While i couldnt control what happened to me, i could absolutely control how i responded as we all can. I told the doctors that i had unwavering faith in the possibility of walking again, and that i would put forth extraordinary effort and do everything in my power to create the life i wanted.
Three (3) weeks after the crash, i took my first step.
The lesson for all of us is that no matter what happens to you, or has happened to you in your life up until this point, you are responsible for how you respond. And in your chosen response are limitless possibilities. You get to choose what you do with your life.
Right now, in this moment, be grateful for everything you have, and know that you can create anything you want for your future.
As we are approaching 2022, i encourage all of us to accept life exactly as it is, be at peace with exactly where we are in this moment, and get excited about creating exactly what we want for 2022.
With love & gratitude,
